Finding Strength in God’s Presence
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Finding strength in God’s presence isn’t always easy. Joshua 1:9 is a call to courage that flows directly from God’s presence. As Joshua prepares to lead the Israelites into the Promised Land, God reminds him to “be strong and courageous.” This command is not grounded in Joshua’s abilities or the absence of challenges but in the unshakable truth that “the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” Fear and dismay are natural human responses to uncertainty and difficulty, but God calls us to rise above them, not by our strength but by His. His presence is the ultimate source of our courage. When we know that God is with us, we can face any obstacle, knowing that He will guide, protect, and provide for us. This verse also reminds us that obedience to God often requires stepping out in faith, even when we feel unsure or overwhelmed.
Today, take heart in the fact that you do not journey alone. The same God who empowered Joshua to lead His people is walking with you through every challenge you face. Trust in His promises, lean on His strength, and move forward with confidence, knowing that He is by your side every step of the way.
